Union Iron & Steel Factory is hiring a Senior Steel Mechanical Technician to join its steel production facility in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The role focuses on keeping mechanical systems and equipment running safely and reliably, with preventive, corrective and emergency maintenance at the centre of the job. The aim is to minimise production downtime and get the best performance from plant equipment.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out routine and emergency maintenance on steel production machinery, including rolling mills, conveyors, furnaces and hydraulic systems.
- Identify and resolve mechanical failures, carry out root cause analysis and recommend corrective actions.
- Follow maintenance schedules to prevent breakdowns and improve operational efficiency.
- Inspect, service and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems used in steel production.
- Respond quickly to mechanical failures to protect production and plant uptime.
- Work closely with operations and engineering teams on process improvements and machine upgrades.
- Help maintain an adequate stock of spare parts and keep accurate maintenance records, equipment histories and work orders in the CMMS.
- Take part in skills enhancement programmes and contribute to process improvements across the plant.
What you will need
- A strong understanding of industrial mechanical components, including gears, bearings, pumps and hydraulic systems.
- The ability to diagnose and repair mechanical faults efficiently.
- Knowledge of industrial safety practices, risk assessments and maintenance regulations, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and PPE use.
- The ability to work effectively within a maintenance team and across departments.
- ERP knowledge, preferably SAP functional skills.
- A minimum of 1 year of working or relevant experience. GCC experience is an advantage.
- A diploma in Mechanical or any related field.
