The Role

The SEO Manager handles everything to do with search engine optimization on our eCommerce site. That covers on-page stuff like site setup, tweaking content, picking keywords, and all that. Plus off-page things, such as getting links, mentions of the brand, and teaming up with others. You’ll team up tight with content people, developers, marketing crew, making sure SEO fits right into all our digital pushes from start to finish.

The best fit is someone who’s all about data in SEO, keeps up with what’s new in the field, handles quick-paced work well, and really cares about boosting results from organic search.

Key Responsibilities

1- On-Page SEO

  • Do deep keyword hunts to spot the best ones for product pages, blog posts, and other parts of the site.
  • Tweak things on the page like titles, meta descriptions, headers, alt text for images, URLs, and links inside the site to boost how visible we are in searches.
  • Work with the content team on strategies that play nice with SEO, matching what searchers want and keeping users hooked.
  • Check the site’s build, how users move around, and suggest fixes for speed, performance, mobile-friendliness.
  • Keep auditing for tech SEO problems, like busted links, errors in crawling, bad redirects. Then team with devs to fix them up.

2- Off-Page SEO

  • Come up with and run a plan for building links to amp up our domain strength and climb rankings on tough keywords.
  • Find spots for guest posts, sharing content, partnering with influencers, and other ways to snag good links.
  • Watch the backlinks we have, and handle getting rid of any bad or toxic ones.
  • Build ties with webmasters outside, influencers, and content creators to lock in quality links.

3- SEO Analytics and Reporting

  • Keep tabs on, measure, report the main SEO numbers, like organic visitors, keyword spots, conversions, bounce rates, using Google Analytics, Search Console, Ahrefs, SEMrush, or whatever similar tools.
  • Test stuff out nonstop, look at the data, refine the SEO approaches based on what it shows.
  • Give useful tips to the internal teams and bosses, to push SEO better and grow the business.

4- Collaboration and Strategy

  • Stick close with eCommerce, content, dev teams, weaving SEO into launches of products, promo runs, and site overhauls.
  • Keep current on SEO trends, algorithm changes from search engines, for constant tweaks.
  • Join brainstorms, throw in your SEO know-how for marketing plans.

Qualifications

1- Education

Bachelor’s in Marketing, Communications, Business, or something close. Or equal real-world experience.

2- Experience

  • At least 5 years in SEO, best if in eCommerce.
  • Solid history handling on-page and off-page, driving big jumps in organic traffic.
  • Know-how with eCommerce setups like Shopify, Magento, WooCommerce, BigCommerce.

3- Technical Skills

  • Deep grasp of SEO best ways and how rankings work, for Google, Bing, etc.
  • Good at tools like Google Analytics, Search Console, SEMrush, Ahrefs, Moz, Screaming Frog, and more.
  • Get HTML, CSS, JavaScript, how they affect SEO.
  • Understand structured data, schema, core technical SEO ideas.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills
  • Strong at digging through big data piles, spotting patterns, acting to tune SEO.
  • Communication and Collaboration
  • Great at talking, explaining SEO to non-tech folks and higher-ups.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on with eCommerce platforms and CMS like Shopify, Magento, WordPress.
  • Know conversion rate optimization basics, how SEO links to getting and keeping customers.
  • Dealt with paid search or social ads, seeing how SEO and SEM team up.
