QatarEnergy is hiring a Senior Instrument Technician in Qatar. The role focuses on maintaining field instruments, from installing and calibrating them to finding and fixing faults. The postholder also makes sure that tools and spare parts are available in the right amounts, so that equipment stays reliable and works within safety and maintenance standards. The job includes first-line maintenance of instruments linked to gas turbines, emergency shutdown (ESD) systems, fire and gas control systems, HMI and PLC systems.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain, control, monitor, install, calibrate and troubleshoot all assigned field instruments.
- Check that equipment, tools and spare parts are available and sufficient for the work.
- Carry out first-line maintenance of instruments for gas turbines, ESD, fire and gas control, HMI and PLC systems.
- Keep equipment operating within safety and maintenance standards.
Requirements
- At least 10 years of relevant experience maintaining modern control systems from major equipment manufacturers in the oil and gas industry.
- Specialised working knowledge of control systems, including logic and HMI programming, especially Honeywell, Yokogawa, Emerson, Triconex, Rockwell and HIMA.
- Experience with the latest FF DCS and with TÜV-certified SIL-rated ESD and fire and gas systems.
- An associate degree, or a diploma or equivalent in electronics instrumentation control systems.
Preferred skills
- Familiarity with international standards such as IEC-60508/511, ISA and Shell DEPs.
Other details
This is a senior post that combines hands-on maintenance with checking that the right equipment and parts are ready. Candidates should be comfortable working across several control system platforms, as the role covers a broad range of instruments.
