QatarEnergy is hiring a Buyer to join its purchasing team in Doha, Qatar. The role focuses on making sure materials, equipment and related services reach QatarEnergy’s operations, shutdowns and projects on time and without interruption. The buyer also supports affiliates and joint ventures when required.
A buyer usually works closely with technical and operational teams to understand what is needed, compares suppliers, and manages orders from the first request through to delivery.
Main Responsibilities
- Manage the full purchasing and supply process, from assigning a Purchase Requisition (PR) to issuing a Purchase Order (PO).
- Keep procurement activity visible by updating business systems on time.
- Follow company policies, procedures, guidelines, standards and work instructions.
- Protect confidential information and keep to high ethical standards in every procurement step.
- Support market trend analysis and help put risk management strategies into practice.
Experience and Skills
- At least 8 years of experience in a supply chain or contracting environment, preferably in oil and gas, including 4 years in a supervisory role.
- Fluent verbal and written English.
- Knowledge of technical specifications, engineering standards, material testing procedures (ND1) and regulatory requirements in the oil and gas industry.
- Proficiency in the MS Office suite, especially Word and Excel.
- Essential knowledge of SAP applications and operations.
- Ability to perform well in a demanding business environment.
- Strong commitment and knowledge of risk management techniques.
Education
- A bachelor’s degree in a major engineering discipline.
- Membership of an international supply chain institution is desirable.
