QatarEnergy is hiring a Senior Buying Assistant to work in Doha, Qatar. The role covers the buying of materials and equipment for the company’s oil and gas operations, shutdown work and projects. The work begins when a purchase requisition is received and ends when a purchase order is awarded, for the purchasing categories assigned to the post.
The post holder must keep information strictly confidential, act to high ethical standards and make sure every step of the buying process follows QatarEnergy’s policies, procedures, standards and guidelines.
A buying assistant usually checks requests, compares supplier offers and keeps accurate records of orders, so careful documentation and attention to detail are important in this type of work.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the procurement and supply of materials and equipment for assigned category purchasing groups.
- Oversee each stage of buying, from the purchase requisition through to the award of the purchase order.
- Support oil and gas operations, shutdowns and projects with the materials and equipment they need.
- Apply QatarEnergy’s internal rules and standards throughout the procurement process.
Requirements
- At least 6 years of experience purchasing equipment and materials, preferably in the energy sector.
- The ability to read drawings and technical documents.
- A reasonable understanding of material technical specifications and standards.
- Proficiency in verbal and written English, which is required.
- Good skills in the MS Office suite, especially MS Word and MS Excel.
Education
A bachelor degree is required. The source advert lists a university degree in engineering, supply chain or business as the preferred background.
Other Useful Details
- Knowledge of SAP is preferred.
- Membership of international supply chain institutes is desirable.
