QatarEnergy is looking for a Sr. HSE Engineer to work in Doha, Qatar. The role leads the provision of expertise on all health, safety and environment (HSE) matters for the department. The post holder makes sure that work meets QatarEnergy standards, international standards, and regulatory and project requirements.
Responsibilities
- Provide senior HSE expertise across the department.
- Check that work complies with QatarEnergy standards, international standards, and regulatory and project requirements.
- Help develop project HSE plans, philosophies and specifications.
- Work on HSE studies, environmental assessments and project HSE risk registers.
- Investigate accidents and incidents, and learn lessons from them.
- Lead key and critical HSE audits and reviews.
- Keep consolidated records, lessons learnt and root cause analyses up to date.
- Motivate and organise HSE and contractor HSE teams to reach a high level of performance.
Experience and skills
- At least 15 years of experience in HSE functions, including exposure to EPC work on major oil and gas projects.
- At least the last 5 years in a similar senior HSE position on projects for reputable oil and gas operators in an offshore environment.
- Knowledge of HSE and environmental regulatory regimes and international safety engineering codes and standards, especially those for offshore work.
- Experience of managing large contractor teams.
- Experience as an HSE lead in a project management team.
- Experience as a lead auditor on key HSE audits.
- Strong leadership skills.
Education and membership
- A bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline from an internationally recognised university is required.
- A master’s degree is preferred.
- Membership of a recognised professional engineering or HSE association or institution is required.
